MATTAGAMI RIVER
Start your day at the Mattagami boat launch in Smooth Rock Falls. Travel the Mattagami River with your friends and family in the comfort of the very stable and safe voyageur canoe. Spend your day traveling this river and discovering what is has to offer . About an hour into the trip we stop at bald eagles nest to view the majestic bird feeding its little ones. Be sure to bring your binoculars and your camera ! Our next stop is beautiful Island falls! You can spend some time here fishing for pickerel , pike, small mouth bass, perch and sturgeon.
After, you will enjoy a delicious supper and exchange songs and stories at the camp fire. You will spend the night on this little island falling asleep to the song of the river and the cry of the loons. Wake up to a great new day in front of us , savour a great lumberjack breakfast and after take a little hike in the (Friends of the Mattagami ) trail to discover one of the most scenic and untouched waterfalls in Northern Ontario. This is a perfect spot for amateur and professional photographers. After, we'll jump back in the voyageur canoe to continue our journey back to Smooth Rock Falls. Along the way, we'll learn some of the fascinating history of the Mattagami, the present town of Smooth Rock Falls and the ghost town that was once a thriving mill community called Jacksonborrow.
KAPUSKASING RIVER/BEAVER FALLS
Start your day at the Kapuskasing river boat launch, where you will embark in our big voyageur canoe and travel the river all the way to beautiful Beaverfalls !
This is a special place to experience tranquility and adventure and be in direct contact with nature and wildlife . At night you will enjoy a delicious supper , catch a few fish below the falls and exchange stories and songs at a warm camp fire, before letting yourself fall asleep to the sound of Beaverfalls . In the morning you'll wake up to the great air of Northern Ontario and the smell of a delicious breakfast cooking on the camp stove. Enjoy the tranquility of the wilderness that surrounds you and then paddle down the river listening to the singing birds and looking for moose or other wildlife enjoying the river too!
